John Dainton was born in Wakefield in 1952, the youngest of 4 boys, he was spoilt and beaten up in equal measure. He loved learning but hated his secondary schooling, however, it did teach him to love language. After a couple of years rolling Swiss rolls and working on building sites, he went back to college and then spent a good part of his life as a Landscape Architect, mostly in Hong Kong. He has a fabulous wife and 2 kids.
